Lib Dem 3 Ps for the County election: Poverty, Parents and Potholes

Cllr Kathryn Field, the new leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on East Sussex County Council, has confirmed the party’s key priorities as she launched her party’s manifesto for the 7 May election.

Speaking to party members in Hastings – an area which has some of the most deprived neighbourhoods in the country – Cllr Field said:

“If East Sussex residents ask the Liberal Democrats to lead the County Council after polling day on 7 May, I will be straight to work on our three main priorities.  Liberal Democrats are all about freedom.  We want people to fulfil their potential and be free from the ravages of poverty.  We want local parents to have the support they need to be the parents they want to be.  And we want all residents to be free to travel across our beautiful county, without the worry of damage to public and private vehicles because the state of our roads is so poor.”

Before concluding her remarks, Cllr Field took aim at the Conservative Party:

“I have been shocked at the disintegration of our services and our infrastructure in East Sussex over the past five years.  This is largely down to the decisions taken on local government finance by the previous Conservative government.  Now is the time for local people to have their say about who should be in charge as we prepare for the arrival of the new Unitary Authority.  The Conservatives are a busted flush.  It is time for a change of leadership, and my Liberal Democrat group is ready to lead.”
