Working hard for you

We are now in the run up to an election

There are critical issues that have not been properly dealt with for years

  • Childhood is being blighted for 30% of children who are growing up in absolute poverty and 40% of children who are growing up in relative poverty.
  • The inequality of wealth is getting worse and worse with billionaires having doubled their wealth in the last 10 years, while the standard of living of ordinary citizens is largely static or declining
  • We need to do more than pay lip service to Green issues - the future of our children and grandchildren depend on it.
  • The concentration of power (and money) in central government reduces the relevance of local government and that leads to very poor decision making.
  • All of this is leading to the collapse of many of the civil services that we all rely on: NHS, Legal services, schools, Social services etc, etc, etc,
  • and the erosion of our faith in the democratic process that is supposed to represent our views, but so often doesn't.

The Tories have been a failed government for years, no matter how good and hard-working individuals might be, they are tainted by association with a failing government, whose policies have brought Britain to the brink. They have long since ceased to be the one nation party which is why many former Tory voters have turned to the LibDems.

Help Guy to build the LibDem voice for the future - we need volunteers, money and supporters.

The December 1910 General Election

December General Elections are not unusual; there were three in the last century. But the closest parallel to today was in 1910 - the second in that year, when we were also in somewhat uncertain and divided times (less so perhaps).

AGM Nick Perry

Nick Perry formally adopted as Liberal Democrat candidate for MP in Hastings & Rye

At their AGM on Sunday the Liberal Democrats in Hastings & Rye formally adopted Nick Perry to be their candidate for MP for the General Election on 12th December. The vote was unanimous at a packed meeting at the Royal Victoria Hotel. Speaking to party members, Nick said, 'It is an honour to be asked to represent the party for the fourth time in Hastings & Rye, and it would be an even greater one to be asked to become our MP by the electorate. 'A vote for me on 12 December is a vote to Stop Brexit; to tackle the climate crisis and to secure local jobs and services. Together we can build a brighter future.'

Representing Our Fleets With Passion

***Press Release*** Dear Editor, Over the last three and a half years, and probably longer, the general public had been fed a lot of misinformation about the outcomes, for our country, of the Brexit process. Often these slogans have been written down the sides of red buses. One of the most important Brexit outcomes and the one most close to the heart of our own constituency is the possible implications for our fishery. Our Hastings & Rye fleets have had just cause, over the years, criticising the portion of quota that the small boats receive from the UK government - a decision that has always been the UK government's to make. If I am elected as the new MP for Hastings & Rye I will argue this case in the House with every breath in my body. But I will also tell the truth to my fisherman friends. No Deal and Bad Deal Brexit will hurt, if not kill, your industry. So join me, and the Liberal Democrats, in our fight to Stop Brexit, so we can get on with making our country fairer for those who need
